Dear Children,
This week I would like to tell you about an amazing place. It is called Orkney, and is a group of islands in the North Sea . It is cold wet and windy for much of the year, but the people still manage to grow crops and raise cattle. The people are mostly descended from the Vikings who invaded Scotland .
Here is a causeway between two islands and below is the harbour where many sailors lost their lives in World War II
Here is a prehistoric village uncovered on the beach in a big storm, and below is the Ring of Brodgar, which has been reproduced at Glen Innes north of Tamworth .
Here is the Italian Chapel made of tin by Prisoners of War. Inside it is painted to look like a great stone church.
And here is a puffin! Puffins run and skid along the water, even when it is choppy. Then they dive and come up with lots of little fish in their mouths. They really are the cutest creatures.
Isn't our Creator God wonderful to think of such great places and little things!
Lots of love,
Ahma
